Piggy

My son has a plastic piggy bank with a big hole in the side. It was stepped on one day when I was left on the floor in his room. For a long time we have made him live with the broken piggy bank. He rarely has money; he has never had an allowance if you recall the allowance post back in November about how the kids wanted allowance and Deer did not think allowance was a good idea. Well, Deer finally gave in and it was decide that Fawn would get allowance beginning on her birthday back in January and Buck would get allowance beginning on his birthday in April.
So Buck’s birthday is coming up and since he will have money, he needs a place to keep it. He is also getting a room make over for his birthday so I thought I would try to find a bank that was sort of in his theme. He is into camouflage everything; he thinks hunting is cool, planes cool, tanks are cooler and helicopters are the coolest. Of course he would not use the word cool- only old people say that.
There is just one problem with finding a bank- finding them. Oh sure you can order them online, but I want to see it hold it and know it is the right size and will with-stand being in camo-boys room. Boys or at least my boy will play with it… I know I should teach him not too… but I am realistic- I know that he will play with it. It is true some stores do have piggy banks, but they are baby banks. You know the kind, cute little pink and baby blue banks that have sweet little baby things printed on the side. I just don’t think he would appreciate a baby blue pig with Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star or This Little Piggy written on the side. So where would you look to find a coin bank for an 8 year old boy?
