Swinging

Since the spring began we have been talking about taking down the swing set. It is worn out and is need of many repairs. Last year we talked about buying a new set but the kids were getting older, and they didn’t really play on the swing set any more. They used it more like money bars. So this spring we decided that we would just tear down the swing set. We had the old set for 4 or 5 years- it was a decent sized metal set that I bought for just under $200. I feel like we got our money’s worth. We still felt like the kids needed something to do with all their climbing energy in the backyard. We decide that we would hang a tire swing on one of the trees in the backyard. Deciding is about all that happed with this idea. Two weeks ago my mom gave us an old tire that she had, but still we did nothing.
Finally today we put up the new tire swing and tore down the old swing set. It took us less than an hour for the entire process. Buck carried almost the entire thing to the curb while Fawn cleaned the clumps of dirt from the anchors. The anchors will be reused at grandma’s house for her new swing set. I can’t believe how hard and how fast Buck worked hauling the all those big pieces to the curb. Then not an hour after we had packed-up the tools and the kids had tried out the new tire swing, someone with a truckload of scrap came thru the neighborhood. They hauled all the metal parts of set off the curb. So now we don’t even have to look at the sad old swing set lying on the curb for the next week.
Not too bad for an hour’s work.
