House Guest

We have a house guest. Well not in our house but in the house in the tree in the back yard. So maybe be I should call them tenants. A pair of house wrens has moved in to the bird house in one of the sweet gum trees. We noticed that the wren house was full of twigs and stuff earlier this week; the little house is so full that the roof of the little bird house is now sitting crooked. It reminds me of that nursery rhyme about the crooked man you know…

There was a crooked man and he walked a crooked mile,
He found a crooked sixpence upon a crooked stile.
He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked mouse.
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

Our little bird house is now so funny looking.

Today we all saw the house wrens come out of and go into the bird house. The pair sat on the fence and sang their little wren song when I saw them. When the kids saw them they (the kids) were climbing the tree and the birds came out and expressed their dislike of these invaders in the tree. This is also the tree with the rope and the tire swing hanging in it. The kids call this tree their club house. The birds don’t really have anything to worry about because the house is on branch that is not strong enough to hold the kids weight but plenty strong enough for a bird house and some birds.
So those are our little house guests. I wonder if we will have some tiny guests in a 13 to 15 days.
